Led by Artistic Director Byron Stripling, the former lead trumpeter and soloist with the Count Basie Orchestra, the CJO presents more than 40 concerts each season. Take a backstage tour of the majestic Southern Theatre before the concert and meet Byron after the show. 2010-2011 season at the Southern Theatre: Sept. 24-25 - Guitar Summit; Oct. 27-31 - New Orleans on Parade; Dec. 1-5 - Home for the Holidays; Jan. 14-15 - A Night at the Movies; Feb. 16-20 - Broadway: From Oklahoma! to West Side Story; March 16-20 - Basie, Buddy & Benny; April 13-17 - A Night at the Apollo; and May 20-21 - CJO By Request.

Columbus Jazz Orchestra Artistic Director Byron Stripling is known around the world as a trumpet virtuoso. He gained fame as the former lead trumpeter and soloist for the Count Basie Orchestra. Since then, he's been the featured soloist with esteemed orchestras including the Boston Pops, the National Symphony and the American Jazz Philharmonic. Byron also has established himself as a singer. He starred in the lead role of "Satchmo," a Broadway tribute to another trumpet great, Louis Armstrong, and was critically acclaimed for his work in "From Second Avenue to Broadway."
